Vision : Accompanying and empowering destitute girls towards integral, human, social and spiritual maturity

Introduction on the organization
Amcha Ghar Trust was started with an intention to bring light to vulnerable girls. Initially I worked with the children on the railway platform. In this stint I came across this girl on the Mahim platform who told me that she hated her life and her very existence. The middle-aged man who had given her a so-called shelter was physically and sexually abusing her. I later realized that this was a routine affair with so many, almost all the girls. Struck with this reality, I decided to take some steps in this direction. I approached different institutions but, in vain. This was an opportunity to make a difference.


Amcha Ghar is home for destitute girls who cater to them to bring them in the main stream of society by providing them basic needs in a residential environment. The focus of the Trust is on English Medium Education so that they are well equipped to face the world during their rehabilitation.

Today Amcha Ghar has successfully completely 12 yrs of service for and with destitute girls. And first batch has been main streamed in the society.

Background of beneficiaries Beneficiaries are rejected, unwanted, and drop- out of society.
Orphans who do not know their own origins
Children who are alone in this worls,
Children who are forcibly given drugs, Children who are abused by their own relative,
Children who have witness suicidal cases of their own mothers.
Deserted one due to poverty and illegitimate life.
Their common living area are street pavements cross roads, parks parking lot, pavements beach sides, dirty filthy slums, unhygienic conditions.
These are the various backgrounds of our residents.


Advocacy Amcha Ghar activities prevents the commercial sex work by picking up these street girls from the clutches of pimps .It also helps kids to develop their own identity which their own parents never had. It also prevents kids from AIDS affected parents. In the process AMCHA GHAR prevents anti social elements in a small way.

Net working agencies Amcha Ghar co-ordinates with different NGOs like Prerena, House of charity, Social development center, Tiss Projects, Aakar ,Don Bosco, Ankur, Diya Prabha, co-ordinatiing committee for vulneranble children, Parivartan, smile foundation and local people around.


Evaluation The project staff along with director monthly evaluates the projects. Report of each child is maintained and based on that future planning of the residents are designed. The funding agency is free to evaluate the project by themselves or through their representatives, including the financial aspects of the projects.

Above all, regular inspections are made by the government authorities to the HOME.

Declaration

The funding agency or its representative are welcome at anytime during the project period to visit the organization and the project.
